When our old Hampton Bay fan (big trade mark) died a year ago I wasn't looking forward to replacing him. Although we have a home warranty, the deductible is about $125, so it made more sense to pay less for a new fan than for a refurbished/refurbished fan from a home warranty company. I did what I always have to do, took everything out of the box, laid it out on the floor, accounted for everything (everything was in its place), read all the stations and organized what's happening where and at what stage. Hunter took great care to label both the instructions and the clear plastic parts. Pockets with unique symbols (squares, triangles, circles, etc.) so you know which pieces to work with in each step. I purposely went very slowly so I didn't have to disassemble and reinstall things. It lasted almost all day. Pulling the old fan out myself was a hassle, but luckily there's a YouTube video with instructions on how to remove the Hampton Bay fan, and - there were two unused mounting options (yes, still in the ceiling) available to me and when I have got rid of all the old unnecessary stuff, the Hunter fan assembly guide really made more sense once I saw all three assembly options (I'm really surprised the old fan stayed there this long considering how it was installed. Corner !) Hunter succeeded in connecting the motor to the ceiling box with a single connection instead of separate cables. This saved me installation time and removed the frustration that existed with previous fans of other companies who didn't. The previous fan didn't have a light, but luckily our house had two separate wall switches for the fan and blower. Fan light, so a little tracking with a non-contact power sensor determined which switches/wires were which. Once I had everything together, I turned the power back on and lo and behold, it worked! (Yeah, I really didn't expect it to work the first time. ;-) If our other two Hampton Bay fans fail, I'll replace them with this Hunter fan or something similar with a bottom axle (one is in a high pitched ceiling, so a low profile will not fit there). Hm. I have another room without a ceiling fan. :-)
