Does NOT autosleep/wake

I just got this product -- I finally gave up searching on eBay for Targus VersaType iPad cases, the early higher-quality versions of which were an absolute revelation -- and was disappointed that it does not actually auto-lock or auto-sleep or whatever you want to call it, nor does it wake up when you open the case. This should be removed from the description. My iPad goes to sleep after a certain amount of time of my choosing, so whatever random number of minutes Typecase uses to sleep the iPad is not exactly a feature. What was *great* about the Targus (when it was still worth buying) was a magnet closer that put the iPad to sleep, just like when you close a laptop, and woke up it when the lid reopened. THAT is auto-lock/sleep and autowake.I love the backlit keyboard, and I love that it can be dimmed and brightened. *That* is a feature. But I am concerned about the hinge, which is already getting a little slide-y after only one day. It's always the weakest component on these cases, and it's why having a good magnet closer is so important -- it keeps the top and bottom from sliding sideways across each other and stressing the hinge. So I am not very hopeful about the longevity of this case. I did buy the warranty because for $65 I intend to get as much time out of it as I can, and I won't tolerate dumb design at this price point.

Pros
  • This is very well made. Worth the price.
Cons
  • The keys are difficult to press and require excessive force to register
