I bought these locks and was able to use them but there were two problems. First, the black rubber pieces were too thick for me to use on my windows. If I had put rubber on it, the metal part would not fit over it. I ended up having to cut the rubber pieces in half lengthwise and only use the rubber on the front of the lock where the screws are, leaving the area behind blank. This works, but it's certainly not perfect, as metal to metal on the back is more prone to cracking than metal to rubber. The second problem I have is that the screws are so long (much longer than they should be) that they interfere with opening and closing the blinds, which is inconvenient because they get caught on the screws when the blinds close and you have to make an extra effort to move the blinds away from the windows to close them properly. I'll try to live with that, but I may have to try cutting the screws in half with a hacksaw. There really is no reason for such long screws. The extra length doesn't give you extra leverage; all it does is create unnecessary trouble.
