First of all: good stuff. Form: Why doesn't everyone do it? The shape provides a secure hold and is simply comfortable to hold, like a feng shui mug. It's hard at best. I boiled the tea water in the microwave and the handle was barely warm and the water was very hot. It's just the right size for some 12 ounces and can be used as a wear and spill top. I LOVE HER! But the one that should be neutral with a charcoal bottom is blue. blue is blue The reddish is actually just brown and the green not as bright as in the pictures but perfect for me, my favorite celadon, lovely and delicate. And if they were all purple I wouldn't care because I LOVE them! But they appear to be hand glazed because of the variations and I like them better than the photos. So it's up to you all to decide if a perfect color match is a critical factor. I've only had them for a few days and I'd be very disappointed if they don't last, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. Did I mention I love these mugs?
