I can't say enough about this antenna. Real 5 stars. For the past 10 years I've been trying to find a good OTA antenna. We lived in an apartment next to a busy road for 2 years. In these 2 years I tried 2 different TV boxes with digital amplifiers. No luck with a good signal. One of them even turned off every time a car drove past the apartment. For the past 8 years I have been attempting to install a TV antenna in the vaulted living room of our current home. It has bunny ears, a digital amplifier and a fine tuning knob. The antenna works well on certain channels when the fine tuning knob works perfectly, but it never gives a 100% signal. The lower channels require a different adjustment knob than the upper channels. The signal went on and off all the time, especially during the show we were watching. During the World Series, I got fed up with the signal going on and off. I was looking for antennas for some time before I pulled the trigger on this RCA Yagi Antenna. The antenna comes in its own box (not an Amazon box). There was no padding in the box, but it wasn't really necessary. The antenna is well made. The preparation was easy. Rotate all parts outward until they snap into place. There was some transport oil on the antenna, but it was easy to wipe off. The transformer wires were well connected and the included mounting hardware and mast were solid. I ended up installing the antenna on a plant shelf in our bedroom where it won't be visible when guests arrive. I pointed it to the side of the mountain where all the radio towers are (I'm about 25 miles away). The bedroom is next to the living room and on the same wall as the TV. I ran a coaxial cable (not included) up the wall into the basement and then back through the floor behind the entertainment center. I connected the coaxial cable to the TV and started the automatic channel search. 54 digital channels were found. I don't remember how many I had before. We mainly watch NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX. The result amazed me. 100% signal on almost every channel (the TV has a signal meter). The only channels below 100% were the high (30-1 to 51-1) channels, which I don't watch anyway. Keep in mind that I did NOT use an amplifier with this antenna. Since installation, the channels we watched had a 100% signal 100% of the time we watched them. I am disappointed that I did not purchase this antenna sooner. FYI antenna does not come with coaxial cable. I agreed, most of the cables that come with the antennas are of terrible quality. I bought a high quality coaxial cable from the USA. Also, the antenna was coated with some kind of oil. A quick swipe cleared it. For those looking to cut the cord, this antenna is the answer. Don't waste your time with cheaper antennas.
