Revainrating 3 out of 5

The ultimate heart rate monitor. Update after 1 year. Not good.

One of my biggest issues with wrist-activated heart rate monitors has been their ability to accurately track heart rate. No longer. I was recently admitted to the hospital. My stay lasted about five days. I was connected to the telemetry monitor the whole time. I also had Versa on all the time and checked it frequently on the monitor. I was blown away by the accuracy of the Versa. I've always relied on a typical chest strap heart rate monitor for accuracy. I never believed anyone else would "get" a wrist pulse. Finally there are people. Not to downplay the rest of the Versa. rock app. Sleep tracking is also a big plus. I would say the accuracy is around 90% which is very good. I don't really use it for many of the exercises it can do. I've been a personal trainer for 20 years now, so I rely heavily on my skill and heart rate for my work. Verdict: It's light, it looks good, it has many faces, and it's a great app, but the accuracy of the heart rate monitor rules out the "does this thing work properly" question. Incidentally, in the hospital my pulse was between 60 and 150 beats per minute. Update 1 year later: The heart rate monitor works best in the lower ranges. When I train, it's not very good. For example, when I was doing heavy cardio recently, it started out fine but dropped by 40 bpm and nothing changed in my workout (climbing the bleachers). I will continue to use my Polar with a chest strap or hold it in my hand. The sleep tracker is so-so. I knew I woke up at 1:30 in the morning. When I checked the app in the morning, it said I was in REM sleep. This happens frequently. Also, there are too many resets when getting updates from Fitbit. It's annoying. In one case, the app stopped working and it took me three days to fix the problem. TO FAIL! That shouldn't happen with countless fitness trackers, hence the deduction of the star rating from 5 to 3.
