Review on ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Enhanced Protection and Comfort: Moldex Particulate Respirators HandyStrap Ventex by Tony Wylie

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Breathe a little heavier than through Minnesota 8211

The 3M 8211 N95 mask seems to have disappeared from the market. Alternatives such as the IQAir mask, although listed as available when I placed my order last October, have still not been delivered! I have used a number of other brands in the past (pre-pandemic) including the Moldex brand. So when I saw a box of Moldex N95 with exhalation valve from Revain I immediately placed my order. I liked that this mask has at least a semblance in the form of a comfy foam nose pad inside the mask. And the strap system is superior to 3M in my opinion - very easy to use, I've had several new 3M masks where the strap came off the mask as soon as I put it on because the clip on one side of the mask the strap wasn't properly aligned with the tape. One of the boxes contained 3 masks with a staple barely covering one end of the elastic! The fit of this Moldex was snug enough during my fit testing, although the non-adjustable nosepiece tended to obstruct my breath a bit. For me it is a mouth mask. The 3m 8211's black soft foam gasket is a more comfortable gasket for prolonged use. However, only 8511 is currently available, which looks like 8211 without the foam gasket. The 8511 mask provides an adequate seal but is not very comfortable on my face, particularly the bridge of my nose. In the absence of worthy alternatives to N95, this Moldex mask will meet my needs. But when 3M 8211 becomes available again I will probably go back.
