I will be taking private flying lessons this summer. I passed the knowledge test and am currently studying at the IFR primary school. I bought headsets for a friend to test. She studies with me in the IFR class and passed the practical PP. She has 2 PNR headsets. She said they were REALLY quiet. There is one big difference with PNR headsets. We don't have any other brand to test, but I'm pleased with their rave reviews. Your instructor is a retired Delta pilot who owns the airport. I will ask them to borrow another ANR headset.
