When I received this I immediately noticed that my 2008 Miata shift linkage had no threads to screw it on. Where there should have been a thread, there was only solid plastic. I wanted to return it and then I decided to see if I could get it to work. And I made it! I measured the shifter shaft width at about 3/8 inch. Then I took a little under 3/8 in size and drilled a hole in the plastic deep enough for the handle to sit on the stock. I then pushed and screwed the knob onto the rod, causing it to screw itself on. It wasn't easy, but once I finished, the pen worked perfectly. Looks sharp too. There was no installation guide, so I don't know if mine is designed for that or not.
