I love this camera. Acquired on 09/01/2015. I immediately noticed how quickly the battery drains. It even drained the battery overnight with the camera off, so I ordered 2 extra batteries and a charger. And I have a habit of taking out the battery when I'm not using the camera. I'm an engineer so I immediately started searching and experimenting on the internet on various forums to find out what drains the battery so quickly. After a long search without a solution, one day while browsing through all the menus, I came across Airplane mode? Sony a6000 battery discharge puzzle solved! Turn on airplane mode! A6000 supports Wi-Fi photo and video transmission to smartphones, computers and other Wi-Fi devices. The default setting is Airplane Mode Off, which drains the battery even when the camera is off because it's always scanning for nearby WiFi devices. The solution is to turn off Wi-Fi by turning on Airplane mode. Disable Airplane mode only if you want to send photos/videos to another WiFi device. Then turn Airplane mode back on once you're done sending. Problem solved.
