I too have been exposed to fine fiberglass particles

[Edited 11/24/18 - see below] We have had this mattress for two years now and we have noticed that it has become lumpy. . We felt like something was tied up under the lid. So I pulled it back and found that the refractory was torn to pieces and completely ruined. Now I know what fiberglass looks like, I've worked with it in boats, cars, insulation, etc. It didn't look or feel like fiberglass, it was like thin blonde baby hair. I started removing the clumps of material, which I assumed was some sort of polyester fabric. Then I got a vacuum cleaner to clean up the little things. It wasn't until the sunlight streamed through the window that I realized the air was full of fiberglass particles. By this point I had been working and breathing in it for at least 30 minutes. So I grabbed a powerful LED flashlight and found myself covered from head to toe in thin fiberglass and our bedroom wall to wall. I used to have a more expensive memory foam mattress made in the USA and it was wrapped in what appeared to be pantyhose material. . We slept on it for over 15 years and it never wore out and it wasn't fiberglass. I discussed this with a friend of mine who works in the industry and he said that more brands than you think use fiberglass, but it's almost always a cheaper material or a material that's made abroad. He says I should stay away from any model that uses it because it just doesn't last as long as I've experienced with this mattress. He says fiberglass is cheap and will pass the fire certification test, but unfortunately there are no rules as to its durability or the results of using it in a mattress. I've been sick for a few days, coughing and feeling like I have pneumonia. According to the doctor, this will pass over time but will likely leave permanent damage. It's not dangerous in relation to coal dust or asbestos, but he says there's little research on its long-term effects. So if you have that mattress and a burn sock tear makes it lumpy, just toss it in the trash and walk away. DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER! I know it has lightning, just see for yourself there aren't any. I don't remember reading anything about it when I received the mattress. I'm looking for the limited documentation that came with it to check if there were any warnings about this. added them here. As you can see, it's clear that the inner lid, known as the "fire bag," is made of glass. It also states that the outer case can be removed for cleaning. However, DO NOT do this! It just means not removing the inner cover, but what else can you do when it starts cracking and sticking together like ours? I still have breathing problems. I had asthma as a child and after that fiasco I had to use an inhaler a few times a week. I found the original papers but they were just instructions on how to inflate the mattress to full size before use. I wish Revain hadn't sold these and I'm disappointed when I see them in stores like Wal-Mart. Buyer Warning.
