The bottle came without instructions. It had a sponge applicator so I figured if I shake and squeeze the bottle the sponge would get wet and I'd rub it on my shoes. Nothing has happened. I removed the sponge cap to see if there was a seal underneath but there was nothing so I replaced it and tried again. The sponge stayed dry, but then the lid flew off, and almost the entire bottle fell to the floor. I picked it up with a paper towel and applied it to my boots and then named it Nikwax. They were very helpful. A sheet of paper with instructions should be attached to the bottle next to the barcode. (I didn't have it). If anyone else has this problem, just press the center of the sponge, it clicks and the liquid is released. Nikwax is sending me a new bottle. Apart from this error I am very satisfied with the product.
