Review on 🔢 Garmin Index Smart Scale: Wi-Fi Digital Scale with 16 User Recognition, Long Battery Life, in White by Autumn Campbell

I am a long time Garmin user and have been doing endurance sports for over 20 years. The scale looks great and feels like a quality device. I had no trouble setting up a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection for myself and connecting my wife's Garmin Connect profile. However, the software associated with this Garmin product has yet to be patched. First of all, the main reason I bought this scale was the automatic logging of my weight, BMI, hydration etc. I love the idea of integrating all my information into Garmin Connect alongside the information about my workout. An added bonus was having the Connect app on my phone. Here are a few issues: (1) Garmin only stores one weight reading per day. If you weigh yourself in the afternoon, all morning measurements will be overwritten. This is problematic for athletes who need a morning baseline, as well as for using a scale to determine post-workout fluid requirements. For scales in this price range, I expect all my measurements to be readily available along with basic stats (e.g. min, max, average). (2) Online information (e.g. Garmin Connect) is not the same as in the Connect app. The Connect app actually has more features than the web interface. The web only displays the weight trend line, not BMI, % hydration, muscle mass, or bone mass. The Connect app shows trends for all of the above metrics; but again only for the last measurement on a given day. I gave this scale three stars in the review. If Garmin fixes these issues I'll happily upgrade it to 4 stars. Five if they add a filter feature to separate measurements from specific times of the day (e.g. only show measurements taken between 7am and 8am on the graph). Based on my positive experiences with other Garmin products, I am optimistic that the software will improve soon!
