so, brass buttons. This is very inspired by the Really Right Stuff 40mm ball head, but costs less than $200. This next point may surprise you, but the Leofoto LH-40 makes it clear that you're paying for the name with RRS. This Leofoto ball head is just as good as the RRS ball head that inspired it with functionality, construction and materials. All 3 knobs rotate smoothly, like stock. there is no grain of sand, no game. The large handle locks and unlocks the ball with minimal movement. There is no drifting or creeping when switched on. Friction control is smooth, with very fine adjustment and stepless adjustment. The pan lock also features extensive adjustment options for precise tension control. With more or less friction, the head rotates smoothly without binding. That's the word: food. Not this ball head. Release the latches and it will start spinning smoothly. Tighten the fasteners and the resistance will increase until it stops when the knobs are fully tightened. but no matter where you mount the knobs, nothing sticks. no bustle. no sag. no crawling. It blocks where you want it, no surprises. And best of all, you don't have to exert excessive force on the buttons to lock them. Tighten your fingers like a deluxe ball head should. I have access to an RRS TVC-34L and a 55mm ball head. I've used this combo a bit because my friends are way more invested in photography than I am. and although I was recently thinking about buying a Gitzo Systematic or RRS tripod, I went with Leofoto to see if it was any good, especially as their design is heavily inspired by the RRS and Gitzo. I was surprised that the Leofoto LH-40 performs the same on their LN-324C tripod with the RRS combo. this is not an exaggeration or hyperbole, nor is it an exception due to the "for the price" mark at the end of this statement. The Leofoto LH-40 ball head is excellent. Point. You could sell it for $250 or even $300 and it would still be a great ball head. it's just good. If you want a full-size tripod and ball head and think you have to spend at least $1400 to get something really high-quality and reliable, you're wrong. No one will blame you for buying a BMW, but that doesn't mean the Honda is a bad car.
