Try the dress on before it goes in the closet

I'm a bit disappointed with this dress. I have previously purchased the same dress from the same company just in a different color. When I received this dress I did not try it on as I thought it would fit the same as the previous one as they must be the same size. I finally decided to wear the dress for my son's birthday a month after I bought it and to my great surprise the dress was too small. The blue dress I bought before fits perfectly but the same size green dress I just bought doesn't fit me. I'm upset and sad because I planned the perfect outfit for my son's birthday, now I need to find something else to wear and add something, I can't return the dress because it's been 30 days. I really don't understand why this dress runs small when the measurements are supposed to be the same. My only advice is if you like a dress so much and you decide to buy another one, just try on the second one right away just to make sure the dress fits you the same way.
