Instructions, tiltable

So I got them and immediately started installing as my speakers were straight on the floor. The instructions are pretty useless, but the assembly isn't difficult at all. After assembling one I thought up a few things to help the others bolt the weight, base plate and bar to the floor first. Then loosen the center sleeve to allow the stick to slide freely. Then push the top post down until you can see it going through the weight (this makes it much easier to route the speaker wire). Then pull the speaker wire up through the stand until you see the ends are sticking out of the small hole at the top. Just use a very small screwdriver or paperclip to thread the wires through and push them a foot or more. It's much easier to route the cable before installing the speakers, in my case I installed Bose Lifestyle speakers. Adjust the height of where you want your posts and tighten the center sleeve. Then simply attach the cables to the speakers and clip them onto the plastic bracket (they come with just about any type of screw you might need). Insert the bracket into the rack by pulling the speaker cable from the bottom down. They were easy to set up once they figured this out. As for the stands themselves, I wouldn't recommend them for more than one satellite speaker. As I just found out this morning, they tip over quite easily. I happened upon one of them and I mean it wasn't even a big bump it was more like a scrub and the thing fell over. I have them on carpet which probably doesn't help as I'm sure they probably wouldn't tip over as easily on a harder surface. Also, where I have them now, no one is likely to come across them, so I'm not overly concerned about that, and now that I know how easily they tip over, I just have to be more careful. Just thought I'd mention this because they are very easy to tip. So if you have kids or pets that can get to them, you might want to look elsewhere. Other than that, I love them for the price, adjustability, and ease of installation. I would suggest that on a hard surface, rollover would not be a problem. The solution would be a wider base or more weight. I really want to give these stars 3 1/2 to 4 but it's hard when I realize how easily they can fall down on carpets when I'm older and there are no kids at home and no pets I would say they are 4 stars at least, but overall I can't ignore the fact how easily they tip over.

Pros
  • Stand adjusts in height from 26.8" (680mm) to 43.3" (1100mm) to place speakers at the optimum height for stereo or surround sound. The thick cranked steel post has an integrated cable channel for a cable management system through the center of the stand.
Cons
  • Some flaws
