I had one that had lasted over 20 years and didn't expect the new one to fit. I was very pleasantly surprised. The mechanism starts very smoothly and works accurately. Something I do want to mention, with all mechanical timers like this, you have to crank it up to 60 inches and then back down to the desired time for it to work. You've always worked like this.
