I'm obsessed with this humidifier. (And I'm not at all obsessed with small consumer electronics.) My kids, 4 and 6, have frequent nosebleeds, so we have to run a humidifier in both rooms every night during the fall and winter. We tried the regular models (Teardrop, Honeywell brand etc.) and over time they drove me crazy because they were so difficult to clean. especially tanks with small, oddly shaped holes that never seemed to dry out completely no matter how long I left them in the dryer. This Vornado model is definitely 2-3 times more expensive than other models, but MUCH BETTER. The tank is larger so it never runs out of water at night - even in an extremely dry room we can find that it can run for 24-36 hours without refilling. It's also a lot easier to clean. The entire bottom of the tank simply unscrews for refilling and simplifies drying. The instructions say you don't need to clean the unit if it's running continuously (because the unit has a filter I guess?), but after about a month I found a little roughness on the bottom of the unit so it's worth it to clean it regularly, but not necessarily daily. I also like the "Auto" feature when the unit turns on and off to keep the humidity constant. With our other humidifier models, we'd have to remember to turn it off during the day and guess what setting to leave on at night, so having the automatic feature comes in handy. If you only use the humidifier occasionally, the extra cost may not be worth the convenience of this Vornado model. But if you run a night, this device is worth it!
