Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Thule RideAlong Child Bicycle Seat by Shigg Bigbee

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Doesn't seem to fit women's mountain bikes with frames.

Pay attention to which bike you use it with. I used to be a big cyclist before I had a baby, but I was pregnant and then breastfed. contributes to long bike rides, which I enjoy. My road bikes and mountain bikes are carbon fiber and I knew I couldn't fit a child seat on those bikes. So I decided to buy a used steel women's mountain bike to use with this child seat. I don't normally ride women's bikes, but I bought one specifically to use with a child seat because you have to be careful getting on and off, balance the bike and not kick the baby when getting on. and from a bicycle. All of these things are easier with a sloped top tube. When I received the seat in the mail, a critical part was broken - there is a blue plastic part that allows the seat to move back and forth on the rails and it was broken. Such a part should have been made out of something more durable, maybe aluminum. I ordered some of these parts from Thule and figured I was finally ready to take my 2 year old for a bike ride. It turned out that there wasn't enough room on the seat tube to mount the quick release mount high enough so that the saddle didn't hit the rear wheel. Also, I had to position the seat further than I would have preferred on two rails to keep my feet from hitting the footpegs when pedaling. My daughter spent a few hours with me setting it up and we both enjoyed going for walks. After I adjusted everything, put her in the seat and was ready to ride, it turned out that the rear wheel wasn't spinning because her weight was causing the seat to sag and hit the wheel. Try explaining this to a two year old who wanted to ride a bike - no fun :( Thule really should prominently warn about the seat tube issue on women's bikes. This information should be prominently displayed in online product descriptions. , folks Those most likely to put a child seat on install their bikes are women It seems really ironic that the design of the child seat can't work with women's bike frames The mount is pretty solid - I wouldn't want to use an aluminum frame (or carbon), the manual clearly states that the seat doesn't work with Carbon can be used, I would go for a solid steel or titanium frame.
