We needed 6 sconces so we bought three 2 packs: upstairs, downstairs, a pair on the near wall and a pair on the opposite wall. The electrician said the installation was easy. We programmed the remotes ourselves using the instructions in the box and that was easy too. I like that they are dimmable and you can control the light temperature. The one at the top of the stairs is almost at eye level as you open the door - we've set it to a soft warm light to avoid glare. The base of the stairs and the children's play area are set for bright daylight and the couple on the TV wall are currently light and medium and we will dim and heat as needed while we watch TV. We use 3 remote controls: 1. mounted at the top of the stairs, controls the stairs and against the wall (play area) 2. hold down, controls the stairs and against the wall, 3. hold down, controls the opposite wall (TV area). I will update if anything changes but for now we are very happy with the functionality and flexibility of these lights.
