Here are 2 scenarios where this remote is really useful: (1) You or your roommate are listening to music Sonos and Your The phone rings. You want to quickly mute or reduce Sonos audio, but fiddling with your phone to access the Sonos app is inconvenient when you're already on a call. In situations like this, it really helps to get up against the wall and control your Sonos with this Caseta Pico Remote Wireless. Or (2): You are in the bathroom, showering or on the toilet and playing Sonos sound. You often don't have your phone with you to set things up. Again, Caseta Wireless Pico Remote comes to the rescue, mounted on the wall. So it's a good device, but it could be better. For example, the most common uses for this remote control include: (1) Mute; (2) smaller volume; and (3) increase volume. But Mute is at the top of the console; Louder and quieter are grouped on the central control panel. Also on the central panel is the largest round button that you can use to select favorites. That big button is easy to press when you really want to do something else. To be honest, if I really want to do something complex like picking another favorite, I'd rather control it via the phone app, where I can actually tell what's going on, rather than blindly guessing what's next from that remote control is played from. Tech, less is often more and I really wish this remote only had 3 clearly labeled and color coded functions: (1) a red mute button; (2) Green button to increase volume; and (3) a blue volume down button. I used a dab of colored nail polish on my Caseta Pico wireless remote control to make those green, red, and blue features stand out more. The colors are especially helpful for guests unfamiliar with the many capabilities of my Sonos sound system. You don't have to be an Ace Ventura pet detective to figure out how to mute or otherwise control the volume, especially in certain rooms! It is also surprising that this remote control is only available in white. Choosing other colors is much more like Lutron! Having said that, it's still very nice to have this extra functionality in different rooms of my house. I would give it 5 stars for technical prowess but 2 stars for user-friendly design. Hence my 3 star rating.
