✈️Take the puppy home. ✈️I wanted to share this holdall purchase with anyone about to fly home with a new puppy. Three weeks ago it was finally time for my husband to fly from Central Pennsylvania to Boise, Idaho to pick up our new family member. My husband's United ticket alone was about $650, and a cabin ticket for Calvin, our Harlequin pup, was $125. So we invested a lot to make the flight work. Everything was bought except for the travel bag. Calvin was growing fast and without the right bag he would never fit in. And if it doesn't fit, it's 100 degrees in Boise, so my husband's only option is to rent a car and drive back across the country. He really didn't want it! Rschunimagu. After a lot of stress I bought this bag and it was a lifesaver! Calvin weighed 23 pounds and about 14 inches at the shoulders when my husband arrived. If you look at the bag you will see that both sides are expanding. My husband spent two hours with Calvin at the family home with other puppies trying to potty train him. He opened it and slowly got used to it being closed, like going through security and takeoff and landing. I strongly recommend doing this in advance. But when I say he fits, he can't stand comfortably. United didn't pay much attention to his height or weight but they made my husband take him to safety. It had wings to fly, and once on an airplane my husband was able to open the sides by climbing into a seat without anyone by his side (for a small upgrade fee). He also opened the top to stick his head out. They don't like it when you walk the dog. On the comfortably padded interior of the open-sided bag, Calvin had plenty of room to stretch out and mostly slept during flights. He rode cross country with no potty breaks and no incidents! So much stress it didn't work out but United made it easy on the dressing room and this bag really helped him fit into the larger one. 😃There is also a metal lining at the top of the bag which we removed to ensure the bag can be folded under the seat. Calvin also took 25mg of Benadryl at one point to keep him calm.
