We are so glad we have FREE HDTV. No more paying for cable or satellite TV. We used TVFool and other sites to check signal strength and directions and they didn't bode well, but we took a risk. Now we're getting signals that these sites are telling us not to do this! While it should be fine outdoors, we placed this antenna in the attic. Although it is stated that it is omnidirectional, we find differences depending on the placement. Maybe it's the direction or maybe it's interference - but we still tried it in several different positions, before we settled on the current position. We ran the cable from the attic to the house and then to the TV. We live in the mountains and trees grow around us. In addition to our local stations, we often receive stations from a city over 300 miles away! I think they depend on the weather. We don't rely on them - they're like bonus stations. I'd like to know more about stations further away - people using their microwaves? Wind? solar flares? If anyone knows a good website that I can go to to learn more, please share! After all, that little antenna in the attic transmits more channels than the channel websites think we should be getting, and we don't have to pay more for cable. In between and the Internet, we can't imagine a return to pay-per-TV. All of this was easy to set up, and even being outside it wasn't an eyesore. Tip: Be patient when asking the TV to find channels. Move around and repeat the cycle again. Continue until you reach the best position and setting. Then don't touch! Enjoy Free TV. We are really happy. If I were to buy a different antenna it would be the same, with even more range, and would go outside. ***Update: We tried four more antennas to see if we could get MORE channels - we tried Mohu Sky 60, GE and RCA Yagi antennas and a large Channel Master antenna. None of them found as many channels as this Lava Omnipro. Mohu Sky could not find our most local channels. So we confirm again that this Lava Omnipro was the best choice for us in our region. *** July 2018 and it would go outside. ***Update: We tried four more antennas to see if we could get MORE channels - we tried Mohu Sky 60, GE and RCA Yagi antennas and a large Channel Master antenna.
