These bulbs will last approximately 7 years in a light fixture from dusk to dawn. They don't burn out completely as they near the end of their lives. The lamp keeps turning off and on again when it needs to be replaced. Any voltage fluctuation will cause this on/off cycle. My light was on the same circuit as the garage door opener. As the lightbulb nears the end of its life, a slight drop in voltage when the garage door opener is triggered can cause the light to cycle off and on again. I suggest replacing the bulb when this starts so you don't burn out your lamp's ballast.
