Not perfect but I like them

I have these to replace my original Vibrams, Women's Vibram KSO Evo Cross Training, Black, 40 EU/9 M US which I really like. I'm a size 8.5 and this and my other Vibrams are a size 40. These fit a little looser than my others. I think I could get 39 and I'm fine. I've had Fila Skeletoes for years and really liked them, but they seem to have been discontinued. I chose Vibram. What I like about them, especially compared to my others, is that I walk a lot and like to wear them when hiking because I notice that my foot doesn't hurt as much as with regular shoes. What I like about them compared to my KSO cross trainers is that they have a much thicker sole and a bit more padding around the toes which is great for hiking rocky areas (I wore others when I was 6 days into the Rocky Mountains and my legs were pretty sore by the end of the week after hiking 50 miles). It doesn't hurt that much when I poke my toe in. What I don't like about them is the placement of the velcro. I've read the complaints in the reviews about this and thought that maybe people have allowed something to get stuck in the velcro, but the problem is that the velcro on the side is so low that the strap barely reaches unless , you have a very skinny leg. Velcro. It would make more sense if the velcro on the strap was at the top of the foot. I was going to send them back for this reason but I missed the return window so I'll just sew velcro on them. Meanwhile, I solved this problem for a trip to Arkansas by securing the straps with an invisible hair clip and tucking them under the laces. It worked! I usually wear shoes without socks, but sometimes that causes blisters, especially when my feet get wet, so I bought these socks: Zmart 6 Pack Women Girls Fun Colorful Cats Cotton Ankle Funny Toe Socks are a bit silly and I'd love to find women's socks in one color, but they were perfect for my trip to Des Moines. Others have mentioned that the shoes are quite stiff. I agree they are a lot stiffer than my other Vibrams but they are also stronger. There's a lot more padding, so it's kind of a compromise. I just tie them a little looser and I have no problem. Stiffness won't hurt my legs as long as I give them some room to move. Still I think these are good shoes, just a bit big and with velcro. I would recommend them to hikers who want a little more rock protection.
