Many headphone critics will say that "professional" headphones are not suitable for "home use"; But after using these headphones I find it's a bunch of bologna. They have an unusually flat frequency response - on par with the best pro kits (which cost many times more than this, by the way). Most who are actively interested in headphones will probably equate this with an overtly "sterile" experience. I didn't notice that in the slightest. I enjoy using them every day, whether I'm listening critically or just listening to music for fun. I am very happy with them. Starting with the build quality, they are very solid overall. The cups are expertly crafted from metal, metal components are used at all key pivot points, and the headband - while adjusted and twisted - feels durable. I have absolutely no concerns about durability, but even if Koss is extremely generous with their legendary lifetime warranty. I've used it a few times replacing poor quality cable insulation on my Porta Pros and have never been disappointed (although I think Koss would save money if he simply upgraded his Porta Pro with a higher quality cable). Speaking of cables, the cables provided by Pro4S are extremely durable. Because they're professional quality, they're long, spiraling, and heavy. But if they're too heavy or bulky for your liking, they're easy to remove - you can use any thin 3.5mm cable you like. You can even connect them the way you prefer. However, they do not have a remote control or a microphone. Consider the microphone cable if that's the deciding factor (I highly recommend the V-Moda BoomPro if you're using it for chatting or gaming). Comfort good to very good. In general, I prefer over-ear headphones that offer open, airy comfort (and sound). They don't quite reach that level of comfort (few closed-back headphones), but they're still comfortable enough to wear for hours. Koss put a lot of emphasis on their D-profile earcups. To be honest, I don't know if this is really that much better than the standard oval profiles; but they are definitely no worse. They fit well, are made of soft faux leather, and show a decent amount of effort that doesn't leak or be obtrusive (I have a big head, by the way). They probably won't forget you're wearing them (as you can with well-designed open-air headphones), but you probably won't feel uncomfortable with their presence. Aesthetically, they look better than in real life. a photo. They create the perfect balance between a professional, almost industrial look and a high-end luxury look. These are really nice headphones. Great use of accents, materials and shapes. Sound is what they score for (aside from their excellent overall value). On almost unanimous recommendation, I've used the Meze 99 Classics so far, which are aimed at the typical home user with a luxury mindset. And they were very luxurious in their materials and designs. But the sound quality was downright sloppy and tiresome for my taste. These Koss, on the other hand, sound very precise and tight with a soft tonal character that is well suited for extended listening sessions. And every frequency you can hear? You will reproduce them in a strong, aligned manner with great detail. Some critic reviews have claimed they have a somewhat limited vocal range, but that little truth adds to their overall comfortable feel. They don't have the overwhelming midrange presence that many "flat" headphones have. However, it's important to note that they don't have the U-shaped response curve that some of the most popular home headphones have. I would describe them as more balanced than most headphones I've used. I don't think this is a problem. Actually almost a pro. Coming back to the "sterile" comment, they are definitely not sterile. In my opinion they are alive. I haven't heard a genre of music that I didn't want to play. Live/Acoustic Music? Surprisingly spacious for a closed back. Bass-heavy hip-hop or electronica? Let us! Metal? Dense and energetic. rock and pop? Clean and discreet. I am absolutely amazed at their performance in all genres of music. Funnily enough, the frequency response spectrum says so little about how the headphones will actually sound. While these are truly accurate headphones, they're not "boring" - they're just genuinely fun, with an ability for critical detail and balance. There is one thing I would like to point out to people who use them at home. Usage: Although easier to control than most professional headphones, they are not as easy to use as traditional headphones. They can still take your tablet and phone to a satisfactory level, but they're not as sensitive as some people are used to. At least for those used to ruining their hearing at very high volumes (I reluctantly raise my hand). In summary, I bought seven high-priced closed-back headphones priced at $200 for six months. The 400 RRP range (basically in line with the Innerfidelity Wall of Fame), neither of which I saw as a viable long-term solution. In a moment of weary desperation I decided that Koss had always been my favorite I should try their Pro4S despite Till's tepid reaction. I'm so glad I made this decision. Since then I had absolutely no desire to buy any other headphones for six months. The mezes of my previous choice were for sale. I am everything. And I think everyone reading this review should try it too. You could save a lot of money compared to some of the less impressive high cache brands that might disappoint you as much as I did. This is not a problem.
