Excellent monitor headphones. High Quality, Reasonable Price

Headphones are great for most acoustic instruments. Listening to classical music or music from movies is like standing on a conductor's podium. You can hear EVERYTHING and it's AMAZING! Crisp. Clean. Exactly. It's like being among the musicians in the studio, on the soundstage, or in concert, playing music as it's being recorded. The guitars feel like they're forcing the drivers to play at moderately loud levels. They fight. However, the experience improves as the listening time increases…

Well made and sounds good

Bought the Koss Pro4S in a moment of weakness and seems to like it. They're better than my Sennheiser HD 650 and HD 580, but have surprisingly tight low-end, if not overdone or over-emphasized. I'm a professional musician and I can't see myself tracking or mixing with these banks: no flat frequency response and a stupid short cable. But they're great for cinema: the lower highs and upper mids are boosted, which makes dialogue stand out (unlike my Sennheiser cans). But, yeah, not a smooth…

  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

You can do better in this price range

I wanted to love it. The D-shaped pillow is spacious, comfortable and has excellent insulation. The earbuds are lightweight but very durable. It's beautiful and the materials are of good quality. The dual connector is good and it comes with a nice case. But these headphones are not without flaws. The first thing that speaks against them is the price. There are plenty of established studio competitors out there for the same money or even less, and they just don't bring much uniqueness. Second…

Uneven anti-bass doses

I may have gotten bad kit but other than that I don't understand how these Koss headphones get so many good reviews. 3.5mm Wire Capabilities. Tolerable comfort in terms of fit and cushion. CONS: The sound changes depending on which side the wire is used. The upper mids are a bit emphasized, even for monitors, but overall a flat, balanced, and quality sound that rivals more expensive options. However, their bass suitability is quite poor, as they roll off quite steeply around 100 Hz and…

Perfect for casual listening, but not quite perfect.

Update (October 2018) - Still using them and loving them. No real signs of wear but they are fully broken in and sound fantastic. I'm listening to Halycon + On + On from Orbital's 1993 brown album and it's absolutely amazing, but goes equally well with jazz, classical, pop, R&B and rap. These are really great headphones. Still 4.5 out of 5 stars. Update (January 2017) - I still use them almost daily in the office and so far so good. No issues with the ear pads, the included cable, or the 3.5mm…

  • This is great

Good sounding, comfortable headphones

As much as I like the sound quality of open-back headphones, they don't offer noise isolation and let sound through. Sometimes I need the noise isolation and complete privacy that closed-back headphones offer. I searched for all closed headphone models in the price range under $150 such as JVC HARX 700, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Brainwavz HM5, Edifier H840 and H850, Audio Technica M40X, Mackie MC-150 and MC-250, Sony. MDR 7506 and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I ended up going with the Sennheiser HD 280

Pros
  • Good price
Cons
  • Big and chunky

After a long journey I finally found my favorite closed headphones

Many headphone critics will say that "professional" headphones are not suitable for "home use"; But after using these headphones I find it's a bunch of bologna. They have an unusually flat frequency response - on par with the best pro kits (which cost many times more than this, by the way). Most who are actively interested in headphones will probably equate this with an overtly "sterile" experience. I didn't notice that in the slightest. I enjoy using them every day, whether I'm listening…
