I may have gotten bad kit but other than that I don't understand how these Koss headphones get so many good reviews. 3.5mm Wire Capabilities. Tolerable comfort in terms of fit and cushion. CONS: The sound changes depending on which side the wire is used. The upper mids are a bit emphasized, even for monitors, but overall a flat, balanced, and quality sound that rivals more expensive options. However, their bass suitability is quite poor, as they roll off quite steeply around 100 Hz and especially in the low frequency range. If I even slightly equalize the low frequencies to make them audible, they just jitter. I've used other studio monitors that can produce clean bass with and without EQ, and they just can't do more than rattle in the low frequencies. I'm not a bass lover and prefer a largely flat sound for all listeners, but I expect all frequencies to be audible and these headphones pretty much crush the bass to the point of failure. With power they are quite inefficient for 35 ohms and take a lot of effort to get loud. Eventually one connector on each side showed the problem, at least on my kit. Depending on which side you plug the cable into, I noticed that one side of the headphones sounded a bit distorted, almost out of phase. Switch to a different plug and the problem persists in the opposite earpiece. This two-input interchangeable system appears to have been poorly implemented. I have tried several cables and the same cables have been used in other headphones without this issue. In terms of feel, they're light, don't pinch too much, and feel pretty solid with build quality, with no cheap flimsy hinges or anything. As for the pads, they're acceptable to most people, but like most standard pads, they lack the depth to keep the rider from touching my ears, causing them to start up after about half an hour pains. I can do with small adjustments, but would have liked different earcups, which is difficult given the headphones' D-shaped design. The standard earcups are attached with clips, and the headphones have no protrusion around them, making it easy to attach other earcups. I put on a pair of Brainwavs and had to wrap the whole mug with them. They "fit" but are not snug and slip easily. Being more or less fixated on standard ear pads is a limitation I really don't like. All in all I'm returning these headphones and using something else as they are poorly made and not worth half the price due to many flaws. not acceptable for me.
