These ears were very brittle and smelled stale from the first day I opened the box. My younger dog at first didn't want one - that should have been my second clue something was wrong. After a month of getting a half of one every other day, they both had blood in their stools and required an expensive visit to the vet for a week of metranitazole, after trying rice & ground chicken, and pumpkin for at least a week to relieve their symptoms to no avail. Nothing else in their diet or environment changed - I have to attribute this health issue to these ears.
