My husband used a pick and hammer to finish off some of our inexpensive rings that should not have been taken to the jeweler. That was great for the job! I keep it with my craft supplies. While this has worked on silver plated and nickel plated rings, I am concerned that the mandrel could be damaged by harder metals or conversely could scratch softer metals. This is great for our casual amateur use, but fine for higher quality if you're looking for something more professional.
