The carpet is wonderful. The gel palm rest and grippy bottom make it feel a lot more expensive than it was. The keyboard is significantly less impressive. This is a completely different material than mouse pad gel and much stronger. I hope it will break something over time because it is very big and it would be much more effective if my wrists were dipped in it. As others have said, the edges of the keyboard stand are raised, making it cheaper than a mouse pad. I'll use both, but if you're in the mood for something softer on the keyboard, I wouldn't. I recommend this set. Unlike some other sets I've seen for sale, the rest is made of the same fabric. It's important to me and I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that. Either way, I'd recommend them to anyone looking to cut costs, but if you're willing to spend a little more then you probably should.
