Review on Sony FDR-AX53 Black Camcorder: High-Quality Recording and Stunning Clarity by Lin Wei-Yin ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really like the product, it fully meets my expectations.

One of the main features of the new camera is the image stabilizer. It's just a breakthrough! The camera shoots from the hand, as if from a tripod. No matter how hard you try, when walking, it was impossible to keep the frame with the old cameras. Now, in motion, the camera shoots as if working from a rail. I will make a reservation, with digital zoom, a tripod will not hurt. I've only shot in automatic mode so far. 4K 60 Mbps mode. I put the card in 128 GB, 90/80. It is clear that in sunny weather the image is gorgeous. Color quality, picture detail at the highest level. The picture is so clear and deep that, perhaps, not much inferior to the 3D format. Under artificial lighting, there was a slight noise. There is no clear image anymore. But, perhaps, you already need to climb into the manual settings. I'll practice later. Focus works quickly, but not so instantly that the subject in the frame is not blurred when unexpected objects enter the frame. The zoom is conveniently located and works very obediently. There are no jerks or delays with smooth control. Optical zoom x30 amused. Especially when, after the maximum zoom, the frame pulls back, and the clip object turns into a dot. The weight of the camera is quite consistent with the class. Neither light nor heavy. It’s convenient to shoot, you feel the “unit”, but it’s not tiring to hold. I didn’t buy an additional battery, but I think that for a day of household shootings, that’s what you need. Filmed a long tour of 217 clips from 5 to 20 seconds, the battery showed a discharge from 2:30 hours to 40 minutes. I didn’t take a photo with the camera, as the experience of previous cameras weaned me from this. Happy with the camera, like an elephant! This is my eighth Sony camera since 1993. Especially for a long time, almost 8 years, HDR-SR12 lasted. One problem, you have to buy a 4K TV set and a new computer for video processing. The clips are very heavy for an old computer.

Pros
  • 4K quality, the latest stabilization system.
Cons
  • The camera is turned on by extending the viewfinder or opening the rotary display. When extending the viewfinder, you involuntarily cling to the diopter adjustment wheel with your finger. A week later, the setting went astray and the wheel does not work out to the end. I'll have to go to the warranty workshop.
