DVR Recording Enough people have asked for this so I thought I might as well write a review of my DVR setup. VCR. ALL the cameras had both positive and negative reviews, so I snapped the camera recommended by Prime. I then returned it after realizing it was missing one of the features I needed. So I went back and researched further. The key features I needed to have were: β’ Parking Sensor β I place my device almost anywhere I park, as well as at home. I wanted to be able to photograph someone hitting me when they drive to a spot next to me, or when someone approaches my truck while it's parked in front of my house. β’ 1080p - High resolution required. Video to be able to see something even from a distance, such as B. a license plate. β’ Auto Cycle - Pretty standard these days, but I've noticed some don't have it. β’ Night Vision β In the winter, it's dark for 16 hours a day in the Northwest, so night vision was not an option. β’ Small profile - ideal for me, the camera is not visible from the driver's or passenger's seat. β’ Shock sensor - if I'm hit or hit from behind I want the camera to be sure it's recording β’ Price - I wanted less than $200. Features I don't want or need - β’ View Screen - With a tiny 1.5 inch screen on the camera, I found it only got bigger and made other dash cams bigger than necessary. be. I think what I would like is for this little camera to be installed and never touched unless for a really good reason or bad and hopefully I really never have to watch any videos/footage. At this point, removing the SIM card is just as tedious as trying to remove the entire camera to view the footage. Also, I wanted the camera to be hardwired so I would need an extra cable to connect it for the display. So having a screen to view was a useless addition for me. β’ Backup camera. My main goal is to conquer every parking space. problems and keep an eye on my truck while I'm home. I push my truck almost every place I use so a rear camera would be nice but not necessary in the event of a rear-facing collision, the front-facing camera should still capture the impact and time/date. Also after I got the camera I played around with the viewpoints and I had a big truck lifted up, the view is very limited due to the bed and the tailgate. Much of the footage would have been useless as it would not have included license plate information. I also figured if I really wanted a backup camera I could just buy two and mount one on the back. β’ GEOGRAPHICAL POSITIONING SYSTEM. If I could use this to find a camera that would be great, but the GPS feature on my phone isn't perfect so I figured these little cameras couldn't be any better. Also, according to my research, GPS only helps people calculate speed, mainly to fight tickets. Now I'm pretty good at math and if I ever really have to fight a ticket that bad I can use the footage and calculate the distance and time to get my actual speed. Speed = Distance, Time = Distance, Distance = (Speed x Time). The Speed Of Time After returning the first Revain Prime DVR due to the lack of a parking sensor, I settled on the GoLuk T2 to make sure it had everything I was looking for. I bought it for a great price and it had all the features I wanted. It also had a few options that I don't really need, but if they worked it would be a great addition. When I first received the camera, I was a bit concerned that it is a children's camera. The "FUN CAMERA" on the box made it look more like a toy or pro camera than a DVR, but after turning it on and playing with it I'm not disappointed at all. The camera is about the size of a C-cell battery, maybe a bit longer, but very small compared to DVRs with a video screen. I was a bit confused by the round profile, but it seems to fit snugly under the rearview mirror. From the road it looks like this is just part of the truck and factory equipment. The camera is almost invisible to anyone sitting in the car. During the day it is not really noticeable from the street. There is a small blue LED that stays on and is visible at night. If I had to find one complaint, it would be this one. The included blue light makes it visible in the car at night. I think I'll put some black tape to cover it up. Hopefully a software update will make this light an on/off feature. I love the software/app for this camera. For the price it is indeed higher and higher than I expected. I encountered some problems with the initial setup of the connection, but also tried to do it myself without a guide. After overcoming my pride and following the instructions, I was able to connect easily and had no problems. Note that the camera connects to your phone as if it were a Wi-Fi router, so you can connect to the camera as long as you're within range. Nice feature as I can connect to the camera while my truck is in the garage. BUT you should be aware that your phone cannot be used while connected to the camera if it is configured to use Wi-Fi to connect to your carrier's network (Wi-Fi calls). Again, it doesn't matter to me, I don't run around looking at dashcam footage. But I have to remember to turn off the camera when I'm done. All images/material can be downloaded to your phone and viewed later. Lots of custom settings to adjust the camera to your needs. So far I haven't been able to find anything really missing at this point. The application is very convenient and easy to navigate. The footage is divided into three groups (loop, sensor, push button) and captured everything I've been looking for so far. I service my truck 46 weeks a year and would like to be able to review footage to ensure drivers are not abusing my truck. It also records sound, which is nice. There's a little button on the camera that you press and it automatically takes frames and photos and downloads them to your phone. At first I thought it was a silly feature and couldn't imagine using it, but I found my kid loves it. I installed it in the back and it will record while driving, which is interesting. Takes his attention and occupation outdoors instead of to a game or a tablet. Not a necessary feature, but I think it belongs to "FUN CAMERA". Overall if I had one thing that could be changed it would be the blue light that stays on in parking mode. It is visible at night and draws too much attention to the camera. It's really the only thing the camera gives away. Without blue light, a passer-by would never notice the camera. Everyone has different needs when it comes to a dash cam, but for my needs, this camera exceeded my expectations. I also got it when it was in a Revain sale and the price was very reasonable for the features it offers. I'll try to post some photos soon.
