A big improvement over the plastic containers we've used before. Very high-top sneakers have to be pushed in to keep the doors closed properly, but otherwise a dozen pairs of children's shoes and the most commonly worn pairs of adult shoes, including a pair of slippers, will fit. We keep it in the hallway, so it also keeps outgoing mail and things upstairs. Yes, you build it yourself (took me an hour or two while watching TV), and no, it's not Chippendale furniture, but it's solid and heavy, and a rare shoe cabinet narrow enough for a typical hallway or a Lobby is - maybe the only other thing that worked in our space was the Ikea equivalent, which is smaller and squishier and needs to be hung on the walls. I am very happy with this purchase as it is a more mature way of doing the same job.
