Review on πŸ‘“ SA106 Rectangle Metal Frame Progressive Reading Glasses with Multi-Focus by Brian Hood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for versatile use

I've had cataract surgery on both eyes and fixed focus artificial lenses (for some reason I wasn't told there was a multifocal option that could actually focus, although that much would be more expensive) beyond a few meters. Now I use 3 pairs of reading glasses: one for reading far away from the laptop, one for reading up close, and this one for reading from all directions. I'd agree with another reviewer that there's a noticeable bias: more than the other $35 pair I bought (well, what do you expect. You're paying more than twice as much). But I wear this one and use the other as a backup. This pair has nice big lenses, light weight and a style that I love. Since the frames are metal I can fit them myself (I had to take the others to an optician to be fitted) and they fit me much better than the other pair. For reading and puzzles on my iPad I use a simple fixed focus pair for clarity. I am currently using the glasses I am reviewing to write this review but I think my other set focus pair would be better for laptops. Still, I can really count on this couple for most things; I'm not busy changing reading glasses like I was with fixed focus glasses. Update - I just bought prescription glasses for about $470. I was hoping this would eliminate my need for all other couples. As it turns out, I don't like them as much as these reading glasses. With prescription powers, the emphasis is on the longer distance, so the top half of the lens is appropriate for that. This leaves the bottom half for all closer distances, leaving only a narrow band for each distance and creating a lot of distortion, making computers and tablets difficult to read and use. So I think I'll only use my recipes for outings outside the home. Even though these reading glasses are 30 times cheaper, they're still my favorite pair!
