Bought this for my 1 year old. It's a big size for him and he could play with it for a few more years. It was extremely easy to assemble. He leans back into a chair himself and then gets up, but if your child isn't a climber, I suggest that you have him sit down and you'll help him with that. The armrests of the chair straighten and my son's face lit up when he noticed this. There he likes to hide his toys or the remote control from us. My oldest son is 8 and sits in it sometimes but I would recommend for older children. If my oldest son ever reclined, it would likely get messed up or he would fall over. We're ready to find out. So I would say that the chair is good for small children. Our son loves it, it was a great purchase for us.
