They would look a little better if they were bigger, but they're good enough. I thought it was flickering lights where the "flame" is actually moving, but the flickering is achieved by dimming and increasing the brightness of the light. We put them in the fireplace for the summer and the electric flickering is fine. You can also just make sure they don't flicker. You can also dim the light. The timer feature is handy (you can choose how long the light stays on), but we found that when using this feature, the light turns on at the same time every night unless you press the OFF button. Another nice feature is that the lights flash to confirm various remote control commands. I would buy them again (but since there are so many candles we really don't need more).
