I do body work for a living (30+ years). If you use a grinder every day, I recommend air tools. Yes, in everyday use, power tools wear out faster than air tools because they run hotter and have sealed bearings. Air tools are not only air-cooled, but also lubricated with oil before use, as it should be. If you don't have a compressor, then this is a good grinder for a number of reasons. I bought this for grinding welds as I can put more pressure on it without slowing it down like air grinders do. Electric grinders offer a constant speed for a more precise finish and this is important for grinding welds that are not covered by filler or sealer. But before I brought it to my shop, I used it at home for a few things. I'm so happy with it I'm considering getting another one to keep at home for small projects. I no longer have to run a compressor at home to sand. I bought a Dewalt spoked wheel (3 different types) so I could use it to remove rust from outdoor furniture, lawn equipment or whatever. It works even better with a spoked wheel to remove rust. The paddle shifter is the safest way, and it's not as big as a chopper, allowing you to maneuver it in tight spaces. It's a small price to pay for great satisfaction. This tool does a great job and I recommend it to everyone.
