I appreciate Fox RIver's continued innovation. I've been buying socks from them for 6 years and have seen many versions/iterations. It's the best they've done so far. They're both very comfortable (allowing me to wear my crappy boots without a gore-tex lining) and durable. I've been wearing them 5 days a week for 8-12 hours a day for years with no signs of wear. The first generation I tried in 2010 was very stiff with great arch support and some cushioning. They still sit in my sock drawer with no holes and have worn literally thousands of hours. The next iteration I tried in 2013 was very soft but had some durability issues which I reported to the manufacturer. It's even softer but without the durability issues I've seen before and still has good arch support and soft shins for laces that need to be tucked in. They keep my feet warm in Colorado and I put them on after getting snowed in at the base during a blizzard. My feet stayed warm while digging up the car. If you need a gift for the Soldier/Airman/Marine in your life, this is the winner. Just make sure the color matches your branch. hp If you're working outside in the freezing cold (-10°F) I would recommend a thick Thorlos Exo pad for extremely cold conditions that gets too hot when you're spending time indoors.
