I have been using the scat mat for years and can honestly say it works and works well! This 5 inch area rug is perfect for tables, countertops, sofas, beds, hallways and doorways. . It requires a 9 volt battery and I have used the same battery in my original mat for several years. This comes with a complete, easy-to-read instruction manual. Made from vinyl, they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and rolled up for storage when not in use. The current is very low [gives a low voltage like a tingling sensation] so it doesn't really shock/harm the animal and once they feel it they avoid it at all costs, even if it's not on! I don't have dogs but I can confirm they work great on cats! Money well spent for the aggravation and/or damage they prevent.
