I bought these shoes for work. I work in a hospital and take care of patients on my feet all day. I was concerned because they are not EXPENSIVE compared to others but they are durable, comfortable and nice to grip the sole. The sole lifts the shoe from the bottom up just enough that any liquid or liquid on the floor wouldn't seep onto my feet. They've held up really well, I have a toe that seems to rub against the top of my other "barefoot" boots for weeks and they've held up great, no smell. This is actually my second pair and I'm sure not the last! They feel like real shoes and my Merrel Vapor feels like slippers.
