Our one year old Mr. Coffee recently passed away. Internal short that could not be repaired. Dissatisfied with his early death, I replaced him with Black and Decker. Big mistake! Made terrible coffee. After a few morning rehearsals my wife and I started drinking tea and I returned to Revain to try again. After a long search, I'm back with an updated Mr. Coffee. It was more expensive than our first but had some better features. It has two large buttons to control the functions of the pot. Much better setting than the toggle switch on old Mr. Coffee. The clock is good and easy to set up. I like that the lid doesn't open from the front, but from the side. It stays completely out of the way when filling. It came with a permanent filter, but I don't like using them. Just a personal choice. The coffee is delicious, hot and tastes exactly how coffee should be. Twelve cups of water make 11 cups of coffee. This was to be expected. Don't try to top the water level or you'll end up with a mess of holes in the back preventing you from filling water. All manufacturers have this feature, so it's not surprising, and it makes sense to design it that way. This machine allows you to set the time you want to make coffee. As we are retired we don't need this feature. We do it when we feel like it. The carafe appears solid and well balanced. I can't say anything negative. If this one dies early I will make sure to update it. A solid five at the moment, I hope it lasts a long time.
