My 2.5 year old son loves open and airy shoes. He often chooses these sandals, but every time he wears them, he keeps tripping over them, even when walking at a normal pace. The shoes look great and feel good on him, but I've forbidden him to wear them because of the serious tripping hazard on the concrete sidewalks and city streets. He kept stumbling forward, posing the risk of hitting his head/face on the ground if he didn't prepare. I believe the reason for this is the sole of the shoe which is extremely non-slip but the edge always tends to snag and grip on the pavement thus locking onto my son's feet. I bought him two different sizes when he was 1.5 and now 2.5 and I realized it wasn't because of his inexperience at walking (at 2.5 now he's already an experienced runner), it was on shoes.
