These USB lamps are great for reading on your side of the bed so you don't wake up those sleeping next to you. More than enough light on a white background. Other color options range from almost as light (yellow (which is a very, VERY pale yellow), pale purple, pale turquoise) to white. Red is the most muted color, followed by navy blue. The green setting is perfect for a night light, but if you place it where someone will pass be aware that it will stick out a few inches and could get bumped. The flashing alternates between red and blue light and I don't see any purpose for it other than for a party or kids pretending to be cops. A downside to these lights is that they get warmer on brighter color settings, with white being the warmest. I was a bit surprised by the heat emitted by one of these lamps when in white light mode. Not enough to burn out, but enough not to bother you if left on for long periods of time. When not in use, there is a plastic cover to protect the USB end. This is the first flashlight of its kind where we have a protective cap and that is appreciated. Power adapters are not supplied with these lamps, so be sure to have one on hand. We have a smaller single light USB connector that we use in our cars as this style gives enough light without interfering with night vision. This much larger option would definitely hinder driving at night. It's as bright as turning on a car's interior/door lights.
