I have tried 5 other bandages for big toe osteoarthritis with grade 1 deformity. It's better than the 2 the chiropractor ordered.1. Strong cruciform fixation on the palmar surface of the hand.2. More SUPPORT and STABILITY at the interphalangeal joint to the distal phalanx joint of the thumb to prevent painful adduction.3. No hard plastic/metal over protruding CMC joint causing pain when pressed.4. Velcro straps attach to the back of the hand from the side of the thumb to avoid sticking to things too much and not opening.5. More comfortable overall and requires less padding on inner surfaces for a custom fit6. Best for less pain with everyday tasks like holding a cup of coffee! MARCH 2017: Wear the brace daily since purchase and ended up with SUPER GLUE velcro straps around the thumb and top of the arm strap as it kept snagging and wearing out. I can slide the thumb hole in and out without having to open and close those 2 straps. I can put the brace on and off and only have to adjust the bottom strap. With constant wear and tear of the braces, they get dirty and are subject to heavy wear. I put it in a laundry bag and sometimes wash it in the washing machine. Wrist strap: I put a tube of stretchy fabric on top to cover the strap's clasp and this keeps the end of the strap from catching on objects and coming loose. This made it a lot easier to wear and helps the velcro last a lot longer! I'm using the left and right braces, but the left thumb is in the worst shape. I can write, knit and crochet and everything else in it. I remove them for cooking for health reasons. July 2019. Update: My braces lasted almost 2 years by sewing Lycra swimsuit fabric into a small diameter tube (3/8" x 1" long) and wearing it. Velcro tape so that it covers the end of the closed tape. This way the tape doesn't wear out, it doesn't get caught anywhere and best of all: it stays safe. The picture shows a dark blue fabric hose. are colored and function as an oversized belt loop. Feb 2021, still using one of my 3 FLA braces daily and alternating use. Using SUPER glue on the thumb and upper wrist straps I keep them closed and have lasted 4 years. a small loop about 1 inch long that I put on the buckle end of the strap at the wrist end keeps the strap really closed and doesn't snag on clothing (in the picture it's dark blue and obscures the FLA lettering on the strap ). ). Palm made of grey, elastic material with tears that open and reveal the inner metal. I noticed that the price has definitely gone up since I originally bought them!
