Review on Chrome Wall-Mounted Vanity Mirror with 1X/5X Magnification - Amazon Basics by Scott Lavimodiere

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Basic pretty much sums it up.

If you were going to spend a lot of money on the room you are going to put this in, such as a living room. B. the bathroom, I would look further and spend a little more for something a little bit better. For the past few months I've bought most basic items and then bought other items that were essentially identical from other sellers, often paying a little less. These items included pet paraphernalia and doorknobs, and I couldn't tell them apart except that Revane had his name written on them. However, I needed a different mirror to look into the mirror of our new first aid kit as it is a single door instead of a triple door. Now we can see more and cutting hair has become easier. The mirror is fine for basic things like checking nose hair, trimming eyebrows and shaving, but if you really want to get quality magnification then 5x isn't for you. My main criticism is the wall mount. All but one of the photos show an elegant wall plate, leading me to believe there is a separate wall bracket to attach and then slide over for a nice clean look. Not correct! There are two holes in the plate and the screw heads are visible. The instructions say it is to be mounted to a wall stud only, but the holes are 2" apart. So with 1-1/2 inch wide posts, your best bet is to hook the post in with a screw...and if you overtighten the chuck will bend inward a lot. Although a stud attachment is claimed, it includes cheap hollow wall anchors which should not be used as neither will last long in drywall. I cut off a bolt and used a better quality wall anchor so I can use a different screw to match both heads. I'd rather see the correct pictures and then buy a mirror with vertical holes so I can get both screws into the studs. Fully extended puts a lot of pressure on these wall anchors. For the price you get what you paid for...a China mirror that is within the acceptable range and suits my purpose.
