NX7 questionable? Pairs well with accessories

I bought an NX7 to replace my Callaway/Nikon LR550 which was getting a little fidgety after at least 5 years. The NX7 is a good size and weight. I have read hundreds of reviews. The only complaint about the distance is about 200 meters. The flags on my track have reflectors, the Precision Pro twitches like it's locked, but the distance reads about 5 yards or something weird. I move around trying to find the best angle but it doesn't work. The device works flawlessly at shorter distances. I am not satisfied with the device and am considering returning it. Update 1/20/19: I've decided to send it back. The device started working with clear shots from 200 yards, but I found that the device wasn't giving me any yards when I had the front pin and the wrong front downhill. He showed 60 yards. I went around to see if it would work and it just didn't work. Then I took out my Nikon/Callaway and it worked right away. I was at the tournament in December and it happened. I like the look, the size and even the print. But if I don't trust it, I just can't use it. Something else was funny. When I received it I tried to measure it on the tree through my window. It gave me no hint. I found it strange. I tried the same with my Callaway/Nikon and everything worked fine. So I'm not sure if the NX7 doesn't just have Callaway/Nikon's laser performance.
