The metal in the connectors is a little flimsy, but with a Haisstronica HS-8327 crimping tool they hold the wire well enough that I don't have to worry about the electrical connection. I did a non-aggressive pull test on the connector after crimping and before shrinking, and it held. The heat shrink tubing/glue cures well so I have little doubt that the final connector will be secure with good heating. Heat shrinking a connector requires more heat and more time than I'm used to with non-adhesive heat shrinking, but I'm not surprised since the adhesive has to melt. I used a decent heat gun on low to not melt the wire insulation too much and it took about 20 seconds for the connector to shrink. To test the electrical integrity of the finished connector, I submerged it in salt water and measured the resistance between the wire and the bare wire submerged in the water. During the 5 to 10 minute test, there was not a single conductive path to the connector through leakage. I think using a crimping tool designed specifically for heat shrink connectors is one of the keys to the reliability of these connectors. More traditional crimping tools designed to crimp the back of the crimp around the wire insulation will deform the heat shrink tubing and create a risk of water leakage. a short time. I have not evaluated the consistency of quality control or the long-term reliability of this product.
