Broken ear after one use

I expected them to last a short time but never thought they would break after the first wear. This is for my third grader. She carried it in her backpack on her first day of school, and when she took it out, her ear was broken. Although they still work. There are wires in the ear area so the ear will now wiggle back and forth. And I can't snatch it clean.
