Useful but not improved and incredibly short battery life

I have purchased several alarm clocks that state volume values such as "113dB" and higher, but the original version of this alarm clock was delivered. If you can find one I would suggest trying it outside. You could hurt yourself indoors if the alarm goes off. I like the remote control and the fact that the alarm can be easily hidden. This so-called "improved" version isn't as loud as the original (I had one of each to compare). Unfortunately, you'll have to put the new one in an open area for it to at least make an audible sound. My old one was pretty scary even in the saddlebag, while the new one is fairly easily drowned out by any obstacle in its vicinity. Even more worryingly, the new device is draining batteries even when the alarm isn't activated. I understand it's powered all the time, otherwise the remote wouldn't work at all, but this thing completely drains the battery in less than a week without beeping (never activates). WARNING: DO NOT use the supplied strap. -Foils to attach the alarm to your car/bike. They are rubbish and dispose of the alarm at the first serious bump in the road. I've learned they're the hard way.
